Subject: Re: Autosending files... Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2001 11:45:09 +0200 (MET DST) Hi David, >>>>> "David" == David Bovill writes: David> Hi help required. From the manual it says you can David> autosend files to new subscribers by creating a David> "subscribe.files" file? David> Is there an example file I can look at? What sort of David> file is this??? It is a plain text file (make sure it is in UNIX format, not MS format). It contains one or more commands for the archive server (one per line), like this: archive get help.txt info.txt (See the file archive.txt in the list's directory for more info on the archive server. I am not sure whether the "archive" keyword is really needed.) Put subscribe.files into the list directory. The files it names (help.txt and info.txt in the example above) must be located in the archive subdirectory of the list[*]. In my example, help.txt is the standard help file of SmartList (a link to--or a copy of--the same file in the list directory), and info.txt contains something like "This is the XY list. Its purpose is ...". [*] To be precise, the archive server commands are executed after a "cd archive". Absolute pathnames (such as /etc/passwd) are rejected, as are pathnames containing ".." as a directory part. Thus, "get ../help.txt" will not work, but "get info/general.txt" will (provided there is auch a file, of course). Hope this helps.
